A New Chapter for Buyesi

Buyesi Youth Initiative is taking a bold step forward. We are in the process of establishing a UK-based charitable foundation — a dedicated fundraising vehicle that will provide sustainable, long-term funding for our community programmes in Pallisa and the wider Bukedi Region of Eastern Uganda.

This is not just another fundraiser. It is the foundation upon which we will build the future of the Buyesi Goat Economy and secure the resources needed to transform thousands of lives.

Why a UK Charity?

Our work on the ground in Uganda has proven that the Rural Breeding Model works. Families who receive quality breeding goats, combined with training in modern husbandry, are seeing real improvements in income, nutrition, and educational outcomes for their children. But to scale this impact — to reach more villages, train more farmers, and support more children — we need a reliable, transparent, and internationally recognised funding structure.

A UK-registered charity provides exactly that. It offers:

  • Credibility and trust: Donors and institutional funders can give with confidence, knowing their contributions are governed by UK charity law and subject to rigorous oversight.
  • Gift Aid: UK taxpayers who donate can boost their contribution by 25% through Gift Aid at no extra cost to themselves.
  • Access to grants: Many foundations, trusts, and government aid programmes only fund registered charities, opening doors that are currently closed to us.
  • Long-term sustainability: Rather than relying on one-off donations, a formal charity structure allows us to build recurring revenue, develop partnerships, and plan for the future with certainty.

What the Funds Will Cover

We are currently running a GoFundMe campaign to raise £2,500 for the legal, administrative, and initial set-up costs of establishing the UK entity. This includes:

  • Legal advice and charity registration: Ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements from day one.
  • Financial administration: Setting up proper accounting, reporting, and compliance systems.
  • Communications materials: Building a professional presence — website, due-diligence documentation, and donor engagement tools.
  • Transparent monitoring systems: Leveraging our mobile app and child-tracking data to show donors exactly where their money goes.

We are committed to keeping startup costs lean through pro-bono support and volunteer time, ensuring that every pound raised is used wisely.

The Bigger Picture: Every Goat, Every Child's Future

The UK charity will be the primary funding channel for two flagship programmes:

The Rural Breeding Model organises farmers into groups of ten, provides purebred stock and training, and systematically improves local herd genetics over time. This is the economic engine — the goat economy in action.

Every Goat, Every Child's Future links livestock directly to children's education. Vulnerable children receive goats, mentorship, and school support, combining livestock income with learning to prepare them as future entrepreneurs and community leaders.

Together, these programmes address the root causes of poverty — not with handouts, but with assets, skills, and opportunity.

How You Can Help

We need your support to make this happen. The full programme budget targets $226,320 across our core initiatives, but right now, the most important step is getting the UK charity off the ground.

Visit our GoFundMe page to contribute. Every donation — no matter the size — brings us closer to building a permanent, sustainable funding platform for the communities we serve.

Together, we are not just raising money. We are building the infrastructure for lasting change.
