Refund Policy

1. Our general position

Donations to Buyesi Youth Initiative support our charitable programmes in Uganda. In line with UK charity practice, donations are non-refundable once processed, except at our discretion in cases of genuine error.

2. Errors and duplicate payments

If you believe you have donated in error — a duplicate charge or an unintended amount — please email info@buyesi.org within 14 days of the transaction. We review each request on its merits and aim to respond within 14 days.

Requests made after 14 days are considered case-by-case but are less likely to be approved.

3. Recurring donations

You can cancel a £10, £20 or £30 recurring donation at any time via the link in your Stripe receipt or by emailing us.

Cancellation stops future charges from the end of your current billing period. We do not pro-rate refunds for part-used months — the paid month runs to completion.

4. The Goat Guardian (£140)

The £140 Goat Guardian contribution is a one-off donation to our programme. It is not a purchase of goods or services, and the Goat Guardian package sent alongside it is a set of discretionary tokens of thanks rather than items for sale.

For this reason:

  • We do not refund the £140 Guardian donation before or after any accompanying items are dispatched.
  • Accompanying items are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.

5. Merchandise (shirt and Guardian ID)

All merchandise sent as part of a Guardian package is a gift, not a sale. It cannot be exchanged or refunded.

If your preferred shirt size cannot be met, we may contact you to offer a substitute — final allocation is at our discretion. The Guardian ID format (physical or digital) is still to be confirmed.

6. Lost in post

Our standard UK delivery window is 4–8 weeks. If a promised item does not reach you within a reasonable time, let us know. We will endeavour to replace or re-send it, but replacement is discretionary and not guaranteed.

7. Chargebacks and fraud

We reserve the right to refuse refund requests where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud. Chargebacks will result in:

  • cancellation of any related recurring donation
  • retention of your transaction records for audit and fraud-prevention purposes
  • possible refusal of future donations from the same account or payment method

8. Gift Aid (future)

We are not currently registered for Gift Aid, and no Gift Aid has been claimed on any donation to date. If we become eligible in future and choose to claim, our refund rules may need to change — HMRC requires any Gift Aid claim on a refunded donation to be reversed. We will notify supporters of any change to these rules.

9. How we review refund requests

All refund requests are reviewed by the Buyesi team, balancing your individual circumstances against our obligations to the beneficiaries of our programmes.

Please allow up to 14 days for a response. For more complex cases (large amounts, merchandise already dispatched, chargeback investigations), review may take longer.
